WHAT IF…

I told you that you could volunteer right from the tip of your lunch or dinner fork, would you believe me?  Seriously, would you?  I used to think the term volunteering meant that you had to go and spend a couple of your hours here/ there assisting a charity of choice with certain needs throughout there day, etc.  While you still do that, there are some creative ways organizations are taking their volunteer efforts to new heights and I’m here to tell you about a new form that I learn about this past Monday!

Volunteering on wheels!

Curious?

Well, it’s A FOOD TRUCK!!    This isn’t your typical set of wheels, this isn’t your typical food truck either, this is a gourmet food truck with an INSPIRATIONAL PURPOSE!  One that you’ll want to come back for seconds and possibly thirds…

IMG_8116 Give & Grub Gourmet Food Truck

This past Monday, the Tampa Bay Bloggers and I were invited over to join the Give & Grub for a nice evening out to taste their gourmet menu items prepared by Chef Brian and learn more about the Give & Grub purpose.  I had no idea what they had in store for us to taste.  I was literally blown away by the food and by their mission.   On our evening out, we got to hangout with some other pretty cool guests…

IMG_8147 Thunderbug is Sticking it to hunger!

So Give & Grub food truck has teamed up with Laser Spine Institute and the Tampa Bay Lightning to fight hunger in the Tampa Bay area.  This is an AWESOME way for the company and NHL franchise to stick it to hunger right here in our back yard!

So check this out—-> For every gourmet menu item sold at the Give & Grub food truck, Laser Spine Institute donates a meal to a hungry child in the Tampa Bay area. WHAT?!?!?  How AMAZING is that?!?!  This project is supported by a partnership with Feeding America Tampa Bay & Metropolitan Ministries.

I think I’ve kept you waiting long enough, let’s check out some of the delish dishes, shall we? Oh, and shall I forget to say… ALL these menu items that are served on the Give & Grub truck were inspired by the Tampa Bay Lightning Team and named after some of the personnel!!

Callahan's Mac Slam (Photo courtesy of Give & Grub) Let’s take for instance, Callahan’s Mac Slam named after Ryan Callahan.  Nope, this is NO ORDINARY Mac – n – Cheese!  Seared Kielbasa, Caramelized Peppers & Onions, Cavatappi & Creamy Boursin.  So much GOODNESS in your mouth!

Chicken Parmkos (Photo courtesy of Give & Grub) Chicken Parmkos (Named after Steven Stamkos) is a Chicken Parmesan Sandwich made with breaded chicken, housemade marinara, hero roll and aged parmesan.  Another great dish!  The crunchiness of the chicken just melts in your mouth!

Cooper's Candied Burger (Photo courtesy of Give & Grub) Cooper’s Candied Jalapeno Burger (Coach Jon Cooper) consists of Roasted red peppers, candied jalapenos and cotija cheese on a pumpernickel bun! YUM!

Hedman's Steak Tacos (Photo courtesy of Give & Grub) Hedman’s Steak Tacos consists of skirt steak, purple cabbage, chipotle glaze, roasted corn pico de gallo and is served with Tijuana rice and plantains.  There are so many wonderful flavors going on in this dish!  You’ll definitely want seconds!

Slap Shot Chicken Salad (Photo courtesy of Give & Grub) Slapshot Chicken Salad consists of herb-roasted chicken, cranberries, roasted beets, sugared walnuts, fuji apple vinaigrette and baby greens!  Such a colorful and fun salad.

Hat Trick Chicken Sliders (Photo courtesy of Give & Grub) Hat Trick Chicken Slider consists of slow-smoked chicken, housemade pickles and southern coleslaw on bavarian rolls.  You can’t go wrong with this!

So do I have you HUNGRY YET?

Are you wondering where the volunteering comes to play?

Here’s how:

Visit GiveAndGrub.com to find out where they’ll be venturing to next, or you can follow them on Instagram or Twitter.  For every meal purchased at their Give & Grub food truck, another meal will be donated to someone in need, PLUS every time you use the  #GiveAndGrub on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, they will also donate a meal!  So to put this into perspective for you, the Tampa Bay Bloggers and I shared the love over all social media channels during our evening via tweeting, instagramming, & retweeting, etc. and we collectively as a group using the #GiveAndGrub had shared it 2800 times, therefore providing 2800 meals to our community!  THINK ABOUT THAT!

Soooo, want to stick it to hunger with me?  Time to pick up your FORK!

This review is written by me on behalf of Give & Grub and the Laser Spine Institute.  The opinions in this post are all mine.

Sounds like a great experience. I volunteered once with the Salvation Army food tuck but it wasn’t quite the same as this. Similar concept though.

I absolutely love this concept! Oh cool, I’ve never seen or had a pumpernickel bun before – that is a nice change. However, my favorite entrée featured was the Hedman’s Steak Taco.
